I’ve not been open water swimming before, can I attend?

Yes, providing you have the correct equipment, please ensure you make the Session Leader aware before entering the water. Take your time, familiarise yourself with this new environment, swim within your ability and most importantly enjoy yourself.

Can non-members attend?

Non-members can only attend as a guest of an existing LBT member. The LBT member will be responsible for their guest whilst at the lake and in the water. Guests must follow ALL the same procedures as regular members.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes, 14 years and you must have satisfied the LBT Junior coaches that you are competent and be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Can I drive to the sailing club?

No, only para-athletes and those involved in running the session are able to due to limited parking. You can either travel by foot or cycle down to the Sailing Club from Otley

Where can I park my car?

There are a number of car parks in Otley, some are free all the time, some only after 17:30.

Are there changing facilities?

Changing will be outside, in allocated positions. Please ensure you have sufficient clothing to deal with the weather condition and get warm following your swim.

Can I swim without a wetsuit?

Only if the water temperature exceeds 20 degrees and at the discretion of the Session Leader.

Do you have a wetsuit I can use?

There are no wetsuits available to use this year, sorry.

Will there be coached sessions?

Yes, we are aiming to have some coached sessions, these will be advertised as such prior to the session.

Can I volunteer?

Yes please, we are always looking for volunteers. Have a chat with the session lead or send an email to ows@lbt.org.uk

I’ve booked but can’t attend. Can I have a refund?

Sorry no, refunds will only be given if the session is cancelled by LBT.
