Helen MacVicker - BTF Level 3

I've been a triathlon coach with LBT since 2001 and a Level 3 coach since March 2007.

I'm currently head coach of the LBT youths, which is a role that I really love, and I've previously coached extensively for the adult section of the club.

My experience of racing and coaching over the last 20 years helps me a lot as there is virtually no triathlon situation that I have never encountered before.

My current passion as a coach is with youth development.

I have coaching certificates in child protection, first aid, coaching people with disabilities, core and strength work, coaching the whole child and long term athlete development.

Fiona Hoare - BTF Level 3

My name is Fiona Hoare, I’m a professional triathlon coach and work with thetriathloncoach .com. I am also a coach tutor, coach assessor and trainee coach mentor.

I have been coaching for Leeds and Bradford Triathlon Club for longer than I can remember. In the past I have lead the Thursday evening track session, the Friday evening swim and the Tuesday evening turbo session. At present I’m the lead coach for the Wednesday evening swim at the Chippendale Pool, Otley.

I have a varied athletic background from horse riding, tennis, cycling, adventure racing, running, distance swimming and now long distance triathlons and multi day events.

Louise Hanley - BTF Level 3

I joined the LBT coaching team in about 2004 as a level 1 coach and since then have helped set up the junior section, run a number of training camps in Spain, planned and delivered a number of club sessions and worked to be a Level 3 coach.

At present, I coach the juniors, two of the weekly swim sessions and run occasional sessions such as swim analysis or novice bike sessions.

Donna Edmonson-Booker - BTF Level 3

Stuart Marshall - BTF Level 2

My name is Stuart Marshall, I am an LBT Club coach mainly focused on coaching with the Juniors Section and Swimming. You might occasionally find me helping to fill a gap when a regular coach is unable to take a their session. I am also a qualified race referee and you will no doubt come across me at some local triathlons. So behave!

Tim Ashelford - BTF Level 2

Tim finished his first triathlon in 1989 and has raced all distances up to and including ironman.

He prefers the standard distance where has been national champion in his age group on 3 occasions and a member of the GB age group team at both triathlon and duathlon.

Tim is a level 2 coach and can be found most Saturdays mornings coaching the LBT Junior sessions.

Ian Kitching - BTF Level 2

I have been racing since 2007 but have a history of running, cycling, mountaineering, potholing before that, including work in outdoor education. I am equally happy to be racing sprints to ironman distances and enjoy the challenge of age group competition. I regularly coach the Youth section and lead the Friday swim at the Grammar School at Leeds. My favourite race: the old Wensleydale Full Cheese. First open-water swim, T1 was underwater and beastly climbs. All with a backdrop of hills I never tire of.

Nigel Robinson - BTF Level 2

I joined the club 6 or 7 years ago to get fitter. I am a level 2 coach and help to coach the juniors on Saturdays.

I can normally be seen at the JCC and Nuffield swims.

Too old to run so main focus for this year is Lands End to John O'Groats.

Steve Coy - BTF Level 2

I have been a LBT member since 2008. I joined the club to do more open water swimming after taking up exercise a year before and deciding I would like to do triathlon's, even though I had never swum. Although swimming is still the weakness I enjoy Sprint to Middle distance (so far) events highlights being IM 70.3 Zell Am See in Austria, Day in the Lakes and Helvellyn Triathlon's

Once I got involved the rest of the family were not far behind and when old enough my children got involved, leading me initially helping out using my Athletics qualification and then completing my Level 2 Coaching in 2011/2012

Due to work and family commitments Steve coaches predominantly with the Juniors where he is one of the main coaches and and manages the communications and waitlist. Any questions on the junior - 8-14 year old - part of the club Steve is the person to contact at

I gained my Level 1Triathlon coach qualification in November 2013 once all three of my children started competing and can now regularly be found helping coach the juniors on a Saturday morning.

I can also be occasionally spotted wearing a red Triathon England gillet in race transitions since completing my Local Technical Official course.

I have been a club member since 2008, when I joined LBT to get more open water experience. I enjoy the long distance challenge-type races, the highlight so far being the Swiss Inferno.
